An opportunity for knitters with basic skills, for a “hands-on” introduction to:
- Gotland sheep fleece preparation and spinning
- Traditional Fair Isle (stranded) knitting
- Traditional lace knitting

Programme
Day 1: Wool fleece preparation & spinning (9:30am - 4:00pm)
- Shetland - an overview of the wool Industry and history
- Gotland sheep fleece
- demonstration of components
- Preparation for spinning
- Learn to spin

Day 2: CHOICE between Fair isle knitting OR Lace knitting (both 9:30am - 4:00pm)
- Fair Isle knitting option provides an overview of traditional techniques, and participants will create a Fair Isle sample piece.
- Lace knitting option provides an overview of traditional techniques, and participants will create a lace sample piece. Reference books, patterns and sample garments will be on display

Registration includes morning and afternoon teas with light refreshments. BYO lunch (Dowse Gallery cafe and food outlets nearby).
